Remembering Greg Hodnett

The staff at the Hagerstown Speedway sends our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, team, and fans of 410 Sprint Car driver Greg Hodnett. Hodnett succumbed to injuries suffered in a racing accident in Pennsylvania on September 20, 2018. He was 49 years old.

Along with many other wins and championships at various tracks and series’, Hodnett was a winner of 7 features at Hagerstown Speedway in his career. Notably, he was a 3-time Octoberfest winner, and twice each for the World of Outlaws and PA Sprint Speedweek events.

Hodnett’s wins came from behind the wheel of the Stewart No.12, Hamilton No.77, Kline No.22, and the Heffner No.27 machines.

Hodnett exemplified professionalism on and off the track as a great ambassador for all of Sprint Car racing. He will be greatly missed.

IMPORTANT Updated SCN Information

With a review of the Hurricane Florence and the heavy rain received earlier this week, Hagerstown Speedway officials are going to make all efforts to run the 12th Annual Small Car Nationals THIS weekend on September 15-16. Tentatively, we are pushing back the entire program by one day. Qualifying and Heat Races will take place on Saturday starting at 7PM with Consolation and Feature Races on Sunday starting at 5PM. We will be doing another assessment on Friday, pending track conditions and additional rainfall.

In addition to the change in race schedule, the Awards Luncheon originally scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled to Friday night, September 14 at the Wilson Ruritan Club – 16204 National Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Doors open at 6, meal served at 6:30 and awards will follow.

Unfortunately we can not predict the weather, but we are trying to make the best business decisions with everyone in mind. We appreciate your patience, your support, and thank you for your understanding.
