Speedway Participating at Racing Xtravaganza

Representatives from Hagerstown Speedway will be on hand for the annual Racing Xtravaganza in the Utz Arena at the York Fairgrounds in York, Pennsylvania.

Fans may visit our booth for information regarding our milestone 70th anniversary season.

The show gives race fans a great pre-season opportunity to view plenty of race cars up close and personal before they hit the track. Fans can also meet with drivers, track officials, and vendors throughout the weekend.

Racing Xtravaganza presented by BAPS Coatings and Supplies is held on February 4-5.

Hagerstown Speedway schedule is shaping up for 2017

One of the things that many race teams and fans anticipate during the off-season is a new schedule of events. The Hagerstown Speedway staff has been working diligently at producing a quality schedule of races for 2017. The 2017 season will bring back many of the favorite events and divisions, while there are some new things as well.

The 2017 Hagerstown Speedway season unofficially kicks off at the Valley Mall on March 3-10 for the annual Race-A- Rama exhibition and car show, showcasing many of the machines you will see racing at the Hub City oval.

Open practice dates for testing and tuning at the speedway will be held on March 11, and March 18. The test days are open for all classes of race cars.

The 70 th season opener is slated for March 25 for Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stock, and Hobby Stock divisions. The season opener also serves as an automatic qualifier for Bedford Speedway’s 81 st Anniversary race. Read more →

Hagerstown Speedway celebrates 70 years of racing in 2017

An auto racing tradition began in the fall of 1946 when Stanley Schetrompf constructed a half-mile clay oval located between the banks of the Conococheague Creek and U.S. Route 40 just a few miles west of Hagerstown, Maryland.

In the spring of 1947, what was then known as the Conococheague Speedway opened the gates to the sounds of roaring engines that powered the roadsters and jalopy racers of those days some 70 years ago.

Since 1981, Frank Plessinger has owned the Hagerstown Speedway, and transformed the track into a modern showplace that is on par with some of the finest dirt track facilities in the United States. Read more →
