Sprint Cars, E-Mods, and more to appear at Hagerstown Speedway

Sprint Cars have a long standing history of racing at Hagerstown Speedway ever since the division morphed from the Super Modified era of the 1960’s. Sprint Cars were once a weekly attraction at Hagerstown Speedway, but have always made an appearance at the Hub City half-mile for special events.

In 2019, Sprint Cars will be featured several times. The powerful, winged 410 Sprints are scheduled to make three appearances during the season beginning on Sunday, May 19 when the newly-created Western Pennsylvania Sprint Car Series makes their maiden voyage to Hagerstown Speedway. Scheduled to appear with the WPSCS will be the Crate Late Models for their only scheduled race of 2019.

On Thursday, July 4, Hagerstown Speedway will once again play host to the Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek series with the Johnny Grum Tribute. Joining the 410 Sprints will be an exhibition of vintage racers by the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

The final 410 Sprint Car show is expected to be a big one on Sunday, September 22 as the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions Series makes its first visit to Hagerstown Speedway.

In 2018, the IMCA RaceSaver 305 Sprints made their first appearance in the history of Hagerstown Speedway, and the event was held to great success with the racers and the fans. As a result of that night, the IMCA RaceSaver Sprints will be back in 2019 more than once and with a big weekend of racing.

The first appearance will be on April 20 that will guarantee the 305 Sprint winner a spot in one of the biggest IMCA RaceSaver events of the season.

On May 24 and 25, Hagerstown Speedway presents the inaugural East Coast Sprint Nationals for the 305 Sprints. Over 70 race cars are expected to compete during the weekend which will award $1,000 to the winner on Saturday’s finale. This is shaping up to be one of the biggest IMCA RaceSaver Sprint races on the East coast.

The IMCA RaceSaver Sprints return on June 15 with 600 and 270 Micro Sprints on the card for Open Wheel Madness. The 600 Micro feature pays $1,000 to win while $500 awaits the 270 Micro winner.

E-Mods have gained in popularity with racers and fans in recent years, and the division has been a part of the lineup at Hagerstown Speedway. The Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic Modifieds are scheduled for a few appearances in 2019 as part of the MAM traveling schedule.

The MAM will first appear on April 20, and again on May 4 before being the headliner on June 8 as part of Student/Armed Forces Appreciation Night. The MAM will come back to race again on July 6, and September 14.

The front-wheel drive U-Cars are on the schedule for eight events, all run under a Home Track Rule format. March 23 and 30, April 6 and 27, June 1, 8, and 29, and the SCN on September 13-14 are all nights scheduled for U-Cars.

Appearances by the Penn-Mar Vintage Racers and Classic Racing Series will round out the divisions of race cars scheduled at Hagerstown Speedway in 2019.

So, as you can see there is a lot of variety of racing at Hagerstown Speedway. Besides the racing around the 72 year old clay oval, you’ll also see the Monster Trucks from July 26-28, and the return of the NTPA Tractor Pull on July 12-13.

Full Slate of Events for Pure Stocks and Hobby Stocks

Both the Pure Stock and Hobby Stock divisions have evolved over the years from the days of the Roadrunners, Daredevils, and Enduro divisions of past years. As the cliché states “the more things change, the more things stay the same”, the Pure Stock and Hobby Stock divisions are longtime mainstays at Hagerstown Speedway.

Although mostly classified as support divisions all over the country, Hagerstown Speedway offers these popular divisions several special events that offer more purse monies over the regular shows throughout the 2019 season.

Pure Stocks open up the season on March 23, and return on March 30 with the Hobby Stocks for the first point race of the 2019 campaign. Each division returns for the Hub City guaranteed qualifier on April 6 during Accent Imaging/The Trophy Shop night.

Pure Stocks get their first special event as the undercard of the LOLMDS Stanley Schetrompf Classic on April 6, and Hobby Stocks will be on the April 20 racing card.

Both divisions will be a part of racing action for the next few events, beginning with the spring Small Car Nationals presented by Turn 5 Turnaround on April 27 with a $750 to win feature for the PS and $500 for the HS. Each will also be scheduled in May on the 4th and 25th.

June 1 brings more money and extra distance with the Hub City 100 weekend along with Small Fry Night. PS (Cornett Tribute) and HS each will go for 25 laps and $500 to win, and again as part of Student & Armed Forces Appreciation Night on June 8.

Pure Stocks will be in action on Sunday, June 23 as part of the 3rd-annual Frank Sagi Tribute/ARCH Night.

Hobby Stocks get the top billing for the Eric Johnson Memorial on June 29, and they will also be joined by the PS as part of the SCN guaranteed qualifier on the same night.

They will also be in action together on July 6 and 20, with July 20 scheduled as being the final point race for HS. The final point race for PS is scheduled for August 3.

Then,  it’s time to end the season with some big races for the PS and HS with the Turn 5 Turnaround Summer Championship on August 24, paying out extra monies, and the traditional SCN with qualifying on September 13, and feature events on September 14.

As these divisions compete during the bulk of the Hagerstown Speedway schedule, each division has plenty of races with several of them being special events that are sure to be very attractive to the Pure Stock and Hobby Stock racers of the area.

*****Please check the schedule to make sure which races meet the technical criteria for either Hagerstown Speedway legal only cars, or races designated as “Home Track Rules”. Your rules you’re your home track must be presented to the technical director/inspector.*****
