Red Nininger Memorial up Next as Part of Hagerstown/Winchester Shootout

Coming up this Saturday night, July 22 at Hagerstown Speedway is the Red Nininger Memorial held in honor of one the legendary past winners of the speedway. Super Late Models, Pure Stocks, and Hobby Stocks are on the card.

Long known as “The Jefferson Redhead”, the late Nininger’s career spanned from the coupes of the 1950’s, the Super Modifieds of the 1960’s, and Late Models in the 1970’s.

Nininger’s son Glenn had a successful career as a racer and team owner to keep the legacy of the Nininger name in the spotlight for many years.

Super Late Models will be racing 25 Laps for $2,500 to win. Nininger’s Tire & Auto is sponsoring two 6 foot tall trophies, a fast time trophy, $25 for heat race winners, and trophies for the Pure Stock and Hobby Stock winners along with a $25 award to the Pure Stock winner.

Nininger’s will also award $25 to five random drivers drawn by the feature winner at the conclusion of the race.

Round Hill Auto Service is sponsoring a $50 award to the fast timer, and another $50 if a new track record is set. They are also sponsoring $50 for the hard charger, and the 25th lap leader, while $25 goes to whomever leads Lap 2 and Lap 16.

Antietam Builders of Hagerstown is putting up $100 to the feature winner of the SLM and HS feature.

The SLM feature winner will also win four tickets to HersheyPark courtesy of WFRE 99.9 FM radio of Frederick, MD.

On top of this, Red Nininger’s great-grandson Randy Cole will sing the National Anthem. Cole will also will be singing it at Nationals Park on July 27 for the Washington Nationals home game.

General admission is $15, Students/Seniors/Military are $10, and kids 12 and under a free. Pit admission is $30.
