Hagerstown MD, 6/24/23- Severna Park Maryland’s Kyle Lear drove to his first win of the season in last Saturday nights 20-lap Late Model Sportsman feature at Hagerstown Speedway. The win for Lear, piloting his Ray Ciccarelli owned Rocket no.49, would be his 25th career division win and would make him the sixth different winner of the 2023 season.
Justin Weaver and Lear shared the front row for the start of the event with Lear blasting into the lead as the field exited turn number two. Lear would eventually pace all 20 circuits but would have to fend off a pesky Devin Hart throughout to score the victory. “I knew the race into the first turn at the start was going to be exciting and I drove it in as deep as I could.” Lear explained post race. “Brian Jones had this track flawless tonight and even though I was married to the top my car was just as good on the bottom when we got to the lapped cars, so I could’ve ran there if I needed to.” Justin Weaver came home third, Trent Brenneman was fourth with 11th starting Levi Crowl completing the top five. Heats went to Weaver, Lear and Hart.
Current point leader Jason Stoner collected his 4th win of the season in the 15-lap Semi Late main. Brady Neff lead the first four laps until he spun while leading, handing the lead an eventual win to Stoner. Dillon Wilson took second, Brady Neff rallied late for third, 8th starting Isaiah Miller scored his first career top-five in fourth with Steve Kent rounding out the top five. Neff and Wilson were heat winners.
Keith Reed came out on top of an absolute slugfest to collect his 3rd win of the season in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature. Reed and eventual runner up Nathan Younker raced side-by-side from lap four on with Reed edging Younker by a whisker at the finish. Randy Linaburg, Nick Fogle and Tyler Fisher trailed at the finish. Heats went to Fisher, Reed and Fogle.
